I am so glad that you stopped by. I would love to introduce myself.
Growing up my first taste of the culinary arts were watching my grandmothers, who were both excellent cooks, prepare lunch and dinner. Couple those experiences with my mom being awesome in the kitchen, led to a deep love of engaging the senses during meal times. At the young age of 15, I mixed up Smokehouse sauces that became award-winning in a BBQ competition.
After graduating college, I returned to my hometown of Jasper, located in Southern Indiana, to help my parents run their restaurant, the Fiesta. Quickly, I recognized the need to focus on creating craft food to make the business really stand out. After encouragement from a chef mentor, I enrolled in the Culinary Arts program at Vincennes University. While there my Chef Mentor, Robert Bird challenged me to pursue my culinary vision. That engagement fueled my passion to help transition the Fiesta, a 60 seat tavern, into The Millhouse, almost 200 seat popular casual restaurant.
I started Oink Inc Smokehouse and Southern Kitchen to bring that same passion and creativity back to meal time. I think of it as Southern smokehouse comfort with a twist. My award-winning sauces add a complex balance of flavors to every dish I serve. Our meals and service, whether at the restaurant, food truck or a catered event, will elevate your next experience.
